Cake Smash & Birthday Sessions

The perfect way to celebrate baby's first birthday in a fun and colourful session - all the party vibes!

My Cake Smash photography in Hertfordshire sessions all take place in my St Albans studio, dressing the set in your chosen theme with bright colours to create a fun birthday party feel! I begin with shots of baby in their cute outfits on the decorated set before any mess is made (this is a great opportunity for siblings and parents to also have shots with baby.) Once I've captured these, we set the cake down in front of baby and let them go for it! Some children get stuck right in, others need a little more encouragement which is totally normal - however your baby reacts on the day, with a little gentle persuasion, we always get some beautiful shots, perfect to display in your homes, use at their birthday party or send out to friends and family.

If you've chosen to add the splash option to your session, a warm tin bath filled with bubbles and rubber ducks is placed in the middle of the messy set, ready for little one to have a splash about, also helping to clean them up in the process!

In order to have your images with you in time for little one's birthday, I recommend booking your session to take place at least two weeks before the big day, to ensure I can get your images back to you and ready to use. I always work with a baby/child led approach to my sessions, the most important thing to me is that everyone is relaxed and happy in order to capture those stunning final images.

I work with the most fantastic local cake maker, Alex of Cake By Alex, who can create the most beautiful cake for your session as an additional add on option. Cakes can be made to any allergy requirements and can fit any chosen theme or colour scheme, along with personalisation. Want to celebrate, but don't fancy the mess of a Cake Smash? I also offer a 'Fake Smash' Birthday session, which is suitable for any age - all of the decorations used in a smash session, but using my wooden cake instead.
